The Catherine Jonathan Playing Field is situated off Church Road, Egginton and at around 3.5 acres it borders Smedley Court and Fishpond Lane. The land is owned by South Derbyshire District Council and is leased to Egginton Parish Council for the benefit of local residents of the village and Parishioners alike.
Bordered by a wide variety of mature and ornamental trees the playing field is an attractive green open space within the village .
The Playing Field features a football pitch and a children’s play area with swings, climbing frame and slides.
The area is also used for village occasions such as the annual Bonfire and Fireworks Party, Village Fetes, Jubilee events and Willow Festivals. The Egginton Primary School also uses the playing field for their annual Sports Day and other activities. The Parish Council are currently looking into expanding the Play Area to include more children’s play equipment, adult fitness stations, a shelter and other facilities to encourage more usage of the playing field.
