Egginton Parent and Child Group is available to all babies, toddlers and pre-school children in Egginton and the surrounding area. We meet every Friday, during term time, in Egginton Memorial Hall. Meetings are from 1.45pm until 3.20pm and we currently have a membership of 15 children.

We have a parents' rota to share the task of setting-up a craft activity each week such as icing biscuits, making masks, wooden spoon puppets, vegetable printing alongside a good selection of suitable toys. During the sessions parents/carers have a cup of tea and the children have a drink and a biscuit. The older children are invited to join the school children for story-time at 3pm, which helps to forge a link between the pre-school children and the school.

During the year we arrange trips out with the children to softplay centres and picnics in the park in the summer. We have an Easter Egg hunt in the school garden at Easter and of course Father Christmas attends the Christmas party in December. Parents also get a well earned rest as we organise nights out for the parents (minus children) from time to time!

We charge 1.50 per session to cover the cost of refreshments, craft materials etc. Any new parents, grandparents, nannies or childminders are most welcome to come along with their pre-school children. I joined the group when my daughter was just 5 weeks old - obviously she wasn't joining in at that point but I found it really helpful speaking to more experienced parents, to have something I could walk to and just to have a conversation with people who could talk back!
